When Nature Inspires . . .
A simple design, inspired by nature, turned a practical project into a work of art
The project, commissioned by a local Witney builder, took the form of converting a domestic outbuilding in rural Oxfordshire, into a gymnasium and leisure retreat for a family. The building had been used for storage and, over the years, trees and bushes had grown through the roof tiles and invaded the building as if they now had the right of residence.
A high specification finish demanded something special; a unique feature to enhance the space and elevate its beauty.
GP Fabrications were commisioned to design and build a staircase railing to provide safety, security and adherance to regulations. In addition, the builder wanted to echo some of the characteristics from the original state of the building by copying the climbing nature of trees whilst climbing the stairs.
The railings are constructed of wrought iron bars patterned like tree bark and weaved to simulate spreading branches from the trees. A black, shining paint finish is in keeping with the colour scheme of the building.
GP listened to the requirements and they designed and built a beautiful ornate staircase rail which surpassed expectations. It is safe and sturdy and the customer is delighted with the centrepiece of the room.
The result is a practical piece of metal artwork which shows off the quality of the project as a whole and acts as a centrepiece to the internal design. It is different, unique and adds value to the building and the space in which it lives.
